Personal Profile

Karen loves selling real estate, and her past profession gave her the perfect training and preparation. She was a print journalist for 15 years, from the early 1980s to the mid-nineties. The essence of Karen’s daily work life consisted of researching information and communicating with her audiences. In real estate sales, accurate information is critical to pricing, marketing, and to getting a transaction done. Consistent communication with sellers and with buyers, asking the right questions, and listening carefully to the answers is also absolutely crucial in every negotiation and transaction.

While Karen knows the New York City market, as well as the financial and economic environment in which she sells, no two deals have ever been alike. Just like the news business, every day presents something new and exciting. Karen began her real estate career working for her family, selling estate properties. She learned firsthand that when it comes to selling or purchasing property, your most valuable partner is an experienced and professional real estate agent who knows the market and can guide you through the process.

Karen’s Manhattan “pedigree” includes a family background of which she is very proud. Her grandfather, Mortimer Lahm, was the founder of a chain of “five and ten” cent stores (pre-cursor to the big box variety) with stores throughout New York City, called M.H. Lamston. His brother married one of Broadway’s most celebrated songwriters and lyricists, her great aunt, Dorothy Fields.
