It was clear sailing on the Spirit of New York on the evening of July 29th when the NYC Power Group held its first annual Summer Cocktail Cruise. Despite the ominous forecast of scattered showers throughout the day with “clearing in the late afternoon,” we arrived at the 23rd Street Pier to be greeted by a balmy breeze, sunshine, and the blessing of no humidity.

Over 100 people in attendance from a broad spectrum of the business community sipped cocktails and wine while the yacht made its way down the Hudson River. Mingling with members of the NYCPG, guests enjoyed a panoramic view of both the New York and New Jersey skylines and Statue of Liberty from the dining room and from atop the ship’s two observation decks.

A full buffet supper was served amid new business introductions, lively conversation, and the cruise line’s own DJ playing an assorted genre of music that appealed to all ages. As with any other time when people are thoroughly enjoying themselves, the two-hour cruise seemed to fly, beckoning our guests to finish up their delightful evening with dessert and coffee and that infamous roar from the bar, “LAST CALL.”

Returning from the calm seas, everyone disembarked from the Spirit of New York and happily commented that they look forward to next summer, when we will go out on our second annual cruise. As you will see, the photos taken at the event will validate a fun evening had by all!
